    Delivery Information

    SHIPPING OF MACHINES

    Shipping method:

Machines are shipped with either DHL or Palletline, depending on the machine you choose.  The choice is based on weight and dimensions, as some ship better with one than the other.

      Third party services:

We use third parties for shipping, so delivery times are estimates and can sometimes take longer. We cannot contractually commit to any secure delivery times, as delays occur out with our control.

We offer worldwide shipping across the following zones & services:

      - UK: Royal Mail 48 (0-2KG), Parcelforce 48 (2-30KG), DHL Next Day (2-70KG - Premium / Variable Rate) and Pallet Line (>125KG).

      - International: DHL (0-70KG - Variable Rate) and Pallet Line / Dachser (>125KG).

SHIPPING DAYS & CUT OFF TIMES

Our warehouse ships items 5 days per week on Monday - Friday.  This excludes weekends and all bank and festive holidays (local and national).

If you place your order before 1pm Mon-Thurs, your machine will usually be shipped within 3 working days. If you place your orders on a Friday after 1pm, this will be classed as a Monday order.

      INSURANCE

All items shipped with Parcelforce, DHL or Palletways are fully insured without limit.  Royal Mail parcels do not include insurance, so we only ship low value items on this service.  If you have your order shipped with Royal Mail, we take responsibility for you recieving your item.  e.g. If you coffee subscription gets lost, we will replace it or refund you accordingly.

      DAMAGES

If you receive your order damaged, we require you to contact us immediately with the information and photo's of the damage, whether it be just the external packaging or both the packaging and items. We request that you do this within 24 hrs of receiving the your shipment. If it falls over the weekend, then just the next business day.

You should do this by emailing info@machina-coffee.co.uk with the subject heading of the email as ORDER ID / SURNAME / DAMAGE. Please include your contact details, a description of the damage and images of the parcel - inside and outside (as required).

      Questions?

If you are unsure about anything, please contact us to check before placing an order - we will be happy to discuss any queries and provide you with the best quote we can offer. If you require faster shipping, we can provide alternative services, but can only do so over the phone or via email, not on the website.

Further details of our shipping services are detailed below, providing clear information on how UK and International sales and terms differ.

      UK CUSTOMERS

      UK Warranties:

All machines come with a 2 year parts and labour official wararnty.  This covers La Marzocco, Profitec and Rocket.  We hold parts and have skilled in-house engineers to support you.

      UK Returns:

As per UK Consumer Law, you are legally entitled to return unwanted or faulty / defective items within 28 days.

Process: For all machines, you must contact us to request a return within the agreed timescale.  Do not ship back to us without receiving approval first.  Please folow the returns process as per our instructions, to ensure that the return is managed correctly and the goods reach us in perfect condition, avoiding any additional costs.

Condition: Returned items must be unused and be returned in original packaging with any enclosed documentation and in perfect resalable condition. Once the goods have been received back and checked, as per our terms and conditions, we will issue a full refund or exchange on receipt within 14 days.  If the goods or packaging are used or damaged, we reserve the right to charge you for these issues.

Shipping: Please do not organise the shipping yourself, as it's crucial for us to manage this, so that we can reduce any potential for damage during the process.  We will book the courier, arrange everything and communicate this all to you in good time.

Please note: You are wholly responsible for the goods until they reach us. Any damage or breakages are chargeable, therefore all goods must be packaged in the exact same format as they were shipped to you.  Once received, we will contact you confirming the good have been received in a good and resalable condition, and your refund will be processed within 14 working days.

      INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS

We can ship our espresso machines to other European countries, and do so with Palletline, to provide the most secure and safe route for shipping.  Please note that this will usually take a little longer than UK orders, due to various factors including customs etc.

      International warranties:

Please note, we do not offer a full warranty for espresso machines to International customers.  This is due to the high costs involved in shipping, and the much higher liklihood of damage being experienced during extra shipping.  Instead we offer you a 2% discount on all machines, and the parts part of your warranty.  This means if you experience issues, we will identify the problem, ship you the parts and guide you how to replace them.

      International returns:

Please note, we do not offer an option to return espresso machines to International customers.  This is due to the high costs involved in shipping, and the much higher liklihood of damage being experienced during extra shipping.

      BREXIT INFORMATION FOR EUROPEAN BUYERS:

If you are a customer based in the European Union, you can now buy from our website without paying any VAT (UK Tax). However, you are liable to pay your respective domestic taxes on products depending on your countries rates. Further, you will be required to pay a fee for using this service (Payable via DHL).  You can view the range of fees HERE.

Please see our full Terms and Conditions HERE to be clear on our processes and your rights.

      The Producer

      The Producer

Our Happy Capybara decaf is a regional blend from Minas Gerais, curated by Volcafe Brazil. First, farmers send samples to their lab at Patrocinio, where quality analysts select and blend the coffee.

The coffee is then sent to Varginha for sorting and defect screening before being exported to Bremen for decaffeination.

In Bremen, the coffee undergoes the Water-Ethyl-Acetate (E.A.) process, using ethyl acetate from sugarcane to remove caffeine. The green coffee is soaked in water, steamed to open the pores, and then washed in the ethyl acetate solution to extract caffeine.

The beans undergo multiple cycles of this process, followed by steaming to remove the EA, drying, cooling, and polishing. Finally, a quality control check ensures the coffee is ready for roasting.

      • Recommended recipe

        Our optimum recipe

Happy Capybara is our new sugarcane processed decaf coffee and it's tasting amazing. It's insanely sweet and works great served either black or white.  Our current recipe for this decaf is:

        17g (Dose)
        36g (Yield)
        32 (Seconds)

As an espresso it is fairly forgiving and flexible in recipe, so if you are a little too short or long, you will still get a great tasting shot.  That said, the closer you can get to this recipe the better it will be.

This is being prepared on a La Marzocco Linea PB set at 96c on the brew boiler.

      • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on roastery@machina-coffee.co.uk or call (0131) 656 9565.

      • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
