    The Profile

    The Profile

Kiraro is the latest addition to the growing list of excellent Ugandan coffee which we have received from Agri Evolve.

It boasts a punchy but well balanced profile, full of body and flavour. Notes of yuzu give this coffee a sharp acidity which is mellowed by the rich, sweet butterscotch and praline. The yuzu also hits on an aromatic note which adds an extra layer of complexity to the whole experience.

This sharpness and richness contrast and compliment each other beautifully. Serve this coffee black or white, you will not have any complaints.

    The Farmers

    The Farmers

Kiraro is an area at the southern end of the Rwenzori Mountains in the far west of Uganda, close to the border with D.R Congo. It is a densely populated area with many smallholder farmers growing food for their families on average size plots if land less than 1 acre.

Coffee is the main cash crop and farmers depend on their coffee to earn money to pay for school fees and to make improvements to their homes. Agri Evolve work closely with over 600 farmers in this area.

Their field officers make regular visits to the farmers providing the training and support to enable them to get the very best from their coffee. The local farmers bring their cherries to the Agri Evolve buying centre and an Agri Evolve partner weighs each farmers cherries and pays them in cash. The cherries are collected by truck on a daily basis and are taken to their coffee station at Nyabirongo for drying and processing.

This batch of Kiraro is a great example of the high quality natural coffees coming out of the Rwenzoris.

    • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on roastery@machina-coffee.co.uk or call (0131) 656 9565.

    • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
