    The Profile

    The Profile

Pinhal is one of what we refer to as 'next generation' Brazilian coffee farms. It offers some of what you would expect from a Brazilian coffee, but also much more alongside that.

Rich milk chocolate and macadamia nuts are very present flavours, but they sit alongside some more tropical and dense flavours of apricot and stewed pineapple. Aside this, Pinhal has a tangy citric acidity that adds an extra dimension to the profile.

Think Brazilian coffee with an extra layer of juicy complexity.

    The Producer

    The Producer

Fazenda Pinhal and is owned by Pedro, João, and Milau Gabarra, sixth generation coffee farmers, who have directed the farm to focus heavily on sustainability and the farming of high grade speciality coffee.

They are hugely respected within the specialty coffee industry both for their excellent coffee quality and also their commitment to sustainability, having won the most sustainable farm in Brazil back in 2019, after moving 100% of its energy to renewable sourced with solar panels on the farm and in 2020 became CarbonNeutral®.

Around 35% of their 914 hectare farm is planted for coffee with the remainder being left either as untouched natural reserve or for any of the various reforestation initiatives being carried out by the family. These include a Eucalyptus forest, a 20ha native forest redevelopment and a rehabilitation and release sanctuary for native birds.

    • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on roastery@machina-coffee.co.uk or call (0131) 656 9565.

    • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
