    The Profile

    The Profile

Bekele Belacho showcases a classic natural Ethiopian profile, with vibrant fruity and floral notes that highlight the region's signature flavours. It has a juicy blueberry sweetness, which is perfectly balanced by its delicate floral and citrus notes.

It has a beautiful bergamot element that further adds to its fragrant, Earl Grey - like aroma. The body is silky and smooth, offering a rich, coating mouthfeel, but without being too heavy.

Despite being a classic natural process, Bekele Belacho retains an impressive level of clarity & complexity, whilst possessing some intense flavour notes.

This lot is a fantastic example of well farmed and carefully processed Ethiopian coffee. It's best served black, and through most pour over methods, will really shine, providing some amazing tea like qualities and floral aromatics.

    The Producers

    The Producers

This coffee lot was produced by Bekele Belacho on his family’s farm in Finchawa, Sidama. The harvest took place between October 2023 and January 2024, with the beans processed at the local drying station. During processing, the cherries were floated to remove defects, hand sorted, and dried on raised African beds.

Weather conditions were closely monitored, and the beds were covered overnight and during rain or intense sun. The drying process took between 15 and 18 days to achieve the desired moisture level. Once dried, the cherries were hulled and sorted into grades to ensure quality.

Bekele is a third-generation coffee farmer, having inherited the farm from his parents. With more than 10 years of experience, he also grows bananas, false bananas (enset), and avocados, which provide food for his family. However, coffee is his main cash crop, offering the primary source of income for Bekele and his family.

By blending traditional farming practices with a deep connection to his land, Bekele continues to produce high-quality coffee that reflects the unique flavours of the Sidama region, supporting his family’s livelihood.

    • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on roastery@machina-coffee.co.uk or call (0131) 656 9565.

    • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
