Sustainability

Machina is driven by an ethical and sustainable approach to doing business. This means we consider more than just the bottom line.

We also take an open and honest approach to sustainability, implementing practical solutions, that help move us along on our goal to being a carbon neutral coffee business.

Our journey so far...

Over the last decade, we have put in place a number of initiatives towards improving our sustainability credentials, but we also open about the ongoing cycle of learning we face to achieve our goal of becoming a fully sustainable coffee roastery.

This incorporates, but is not exclusive to, how we source our coffee, who we work with, what packaging we use, how we can make positive use of all our bi-products and crucially, how we communicate this to all our stakeholders.

We are committed to making the continued improvements to reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact at origin.

Making this decision has been the result of a lot of careful planning and consideration, which culminated in our first ever sourcing trip to Brazil in July. This blog is the first in a series of blogs on this subject, which looks at the reasons that drove this decision.
