    The Profile

    The Profile

Volcano is a bright, citric Colombian regional coffee. It's an origin that's long been a staple at Machina, offering both complexity and accessibility in one cup.

Rich and full-bodied, Volcano has a gorgeously sweet caramel-like body, cut with a vibrant, juicy blood orange acidity. It's full and rich, with a slightly tangy note of red berry compote. As a Filter roast, expect a slightly lighter body and bonus acidity.

Incredibly versatile, you can brew this coffee any way you like and will suit most palates.

    The Producers

    The Producers

Volcano is a speciality regional lot from Nariño, Colombia. The producers are represented by Cooperativa de Cafes Especiales de Narino, a cooperative driving a social programme of quality coffee coming from the smallest and least protected producers in the region.

Growing conditions in Nariño are pretty much ideal for coffee. Farms situated at higher altitudes means a cooler climate, meaning the sugars in coffee cherries develop more slowly contributing to its flavour. The climate is quite unique, with frequent intense rainfall and high humidity year round except for harvest time, where the days are sunnier and perfect for picking, processing and and drying coffee. Furthermore, high volcanic activity in the area means the soils are rich and fertile, creating complexity in the cup.

    Our Sourcing Principles

    • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on roastery@machina-coffee.co.uk or call (0131) 656 9565.

    • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
