    The Profile

    The Profile

Sakicha is an incredible Ethiopian coffee from Nordic Approach.

We debuted this single origin at Glasgow Coffee Festival and the bags literally flew off the shelves, so you know this is something special.

Everything about it is classically Ethiopian, enhanced even further by its extended fermentation. An intense mixture of blueberry sweetness, floral aromatics of lavender and violet, with a gentle layer of wild strawberries. Think natural Ethiopian on steroids.

Brew tip: grind coarser than usual. Ethiopian coffee beans are more brittle and tend to produce more fines once ground.

    The Producers

    The Producers

Sakicha is a community lot produced by around 200 smallholder farmers in West Guji, Ethiopia. Each producer farms on an average of 2 hectares.

The washing station was established in 2020, and is easily accessible to the many farmers of the region, allowing for lots of great quality coffee to be processed here as well as easier access to labourers. The station is owned by Power Coffee Trading, led by speciality coffee expert Asnake Kasa. Having worked for 10 years in speciality coffee, Asnake founded Power Coffee Trading in order to use his years of experience and expertise to elevate and promote Ethiopian specialty coffees around the world. He is an expert in special prep processing and produces some of the best experimentals year on year.

This lot is naturally processed with an extended fermentation period, lending it complex and boozy characteristics.

    • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on roastery@machina-coffee.co.uk or call (0131) 656 9565.

    • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
