When buying scales for coffee you can either go cheap / budget, or premium / high end. Unfortunately there is not much in between.

If you are buying scales for the home or you are simply working to a tight budget, then you will tend to get a generic scale that is not specifically geared for coffee and is not waterproof. These Envy scales are a very good option at that lower price point. If you want something more robust (water resistant) and with more features, you should look at the Acaia range.

Envy 3000:

The On Balance ENVY 3000 scale can be used for weighing coffee first, then for housing your brew method on (V60, Chemex, Kalita, Aeropress etc) and weighing your water as you make your coffee recipe.
Further, it is also perfect for using as an espresso shot weighing scale. It's compact and slim design fits well under most machine group-heads. It's large metal platform offers adequate space for holding all types of cup sizes, without being to big for the job.

It has a maximum weight of 3000g and a measure of 0.1g; accurate enough for extraction monitoring. It has a bright backlit LED, showing the weight at any given time, alongside the unit type currently in use.

In our opinion, Envy scales are (from our research and testing), the best product at this price point.
Please note: This is a budget set of scales designed as an entry level scale for home use NOT for business. They are a generic scale, not specifically designed to be used for weighing coffee shots. You can use them to weigh espresso shots under your group head, but please be aware that they will not last if they get water damage.
If you are likely to get them wet and / or use frequently for coffee, we strongly suggest purchasing a set of Acaia scales instead, as they are designed exactly for use with coffee and will last. For this reason, if your scales get any form of water damage we cannot offer a warranty on this product.
