    The Coffee

    The Coffee

This is another addition to our list of excellent Honduran single estate coffees. Although relatively new to the specialty coffee world, Rene Melgar and his family have a long history of farming coffee and he is definitely making a big impression with the quality of coffee that he is now producing.

This particular coffee has a smooth and well rounded caramel like body which delivers sweet and juicy notes of ripe plum. This is complimented by a green grape acidity which results in a beautifully balanced drinking experience.

This coffee is an easy drinker. You will be able to adapt your own recipe to find some difference in flavour but the quality will always shine through.

    The Producers

    The Producers

Rene's grandfather was originally one of the largest coffee producers in the region, and taught his father everything he knows. In 1992, Rene’s father was able to plant his first one-hectare farm and over the years, he continued buying more land and planting more coffee.

In Rene's words, “He taught me and my brother everything about coffee and he taught us to work and value what we had from a very young age... Last year I learned about specialty coffees and how some buyers offer more decent prices for the coffee, through San Vicente Mill; they also told me that my coffee had quality potential, so I tried selecting and making my first micro-lot of special coffee and thank God, it was very well for me”.

    • Wholesale

We are always looking to work with likeminded businesses to serve our coffee.

If you're interested in serving this locally roasted Edinburgh coffee as your main offering, a guest appearance or as bags of retail, get in touch with us on or call (0131) 656 9565.

    • Roasting Schedule

Your coffee will be roasted within 1-16 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point at 12-36 days old). We recommend letting this coffee rest for at least 12 days before using, in order to release excess gas which can impact the flavour of your cup.

If you would like your coffee fresh, please leave a note with your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
